This book is a beautiful, well-researched collection of those stories--the in-depth history of Ardbeg, from the beginning to the present. It includes detailed information on all of the bottlings (well, perhaps not all, but a great many) that /5(3). Ardbeg seems to be 'the new Macallan' - being highly collectible, heavily marketed and increasingly expensive due to its popularity. Nevertheless, it's a cracking good peat smoke bomb from Islay with consistently high quality. On the nose, Ardbeg 10 is uniquely intense with phenolic peat smoke, salty seaweed and an underlying sweetness/5.

Ardbeg was founded in by the McDougall family and rapidly grew into a smalcommunity along the SE coast of the Isle of Islay as the demand for whisky for blends increased in the 18th Century. The distillery has been mothballed several times in its history, and only just saved from demolition once. This is the version of the ANB from Ardbeg that was distilled in It’s bottled at 46% ABV. Nose: Milk chocolate tinged with orange, lemon zest, charcoal, black cherry, mellow peat, seawater. Palate: Burnt rubber with charcoal note still coming through, some tar with strong peat and some coastal notes. Finish: Peat and rubber persist with a bit of iodine .
